Inspired by the natural wonder and diversity of our rivers and oceans, and driven to help save them
Why I paint...

I have been lucky enough to travel to some of the most remote places on our planet. Antarctica, Amazon, Pantanal, Greenland, Lapland, Christmas Island, Zambezi, Kola Peninsula, to name just a few…
These wonderful pristine places are the inspiration for all of my art. However these and all of our oceans and rivers are under threat. They need to be saved from further pollution for those innocent creatures that call these places home and for our children and their children.
The oceans, rivers and lakes inspire all of my paintings. I try and capture the feeling of wonder, tranquillity, calmness, power, movement, pristine beauty of water and those that live in them. My goal is to capture these emotions and elements in my paintings and bring some of this wonder into collector’s homes and workspaces.
It is imperative for me to help and do all I can to conserve our oceans… and my inspiration. I therefore donate 5% of the sale of all of my paintings to The Litterboom Project . The Project helps to prevent plastic and other pollutants from reaching the ocean (80% of all ocean plastic reaches the ocean from our rivers). They also create much-needed employment in South Africa, provide critical education to prevent pollution from happening in the first place and recycle the plastic they do collect.
We are deeply grateful for AJ’s support, which contributes directly to our ongoing efforts to intercept plastic waste before it reaches the marine environment, empower waste collectors, and promote innovative, land-based solutions to plastic pollution.
We commend AJ for using his creative platform to raise awareness and support for environmental sustainability.
Paint Blowing
Watch me blow the paint into fish, whales and other aquatic animals. See me create the texture of the water surface and the movement of the water and the movement of the fish in the water in this video.

Resume
I am proud to have been a 2022 Vukela Art Prize Winner. This kickstarted my art career, opened doors and gave me the belief that I can paint and that others love my work and share my passion for the wonder of water.
I am now represented by 15 selected galleries across South Africa and 3 in the UK. I am honoured to have been part of multiple exhibitions in these galleries alongside other wonderful artists.
